Di kantor saya yang baru ini, mayoritas teman-nya muda-muda.
Bahkan bisa dibilang saya salah satu dalam golongan umur yang paling tua
Hahaha. Jadi kalau pada suatu hari, temen sebelah saya bertanya “Lagu kesukaan
lo apa sih? Band yang sering lo dengerin apa? Gue lagi bosen nih, gak tau mau
dengerin apa.” Lantas gue bilang “Gue suka U2, Coldplay, Taylor Swift, Maroon
5!”. Dan dengan wajah yang eyuuhh gitu, dia membalas “Serius? Tua banget sih!”.
And I was like, “Nooo”. Am I? I’m not, I am forever YOUNG. So
let’s take a look on the list of my favorite singer and musicians.
1. U2

U2 are an Irish rock band from Dublin. Formed in 1976, the group consists of Bono (vocals and rhythm guitar), the Edge (lead guitar, keyboards, and vocals), Adam Clayton (bass guitar), and Larry Mullen, Jr. (drums and percussion). U2's early sound was rooted in post-punk but eventually grew to incorporate influences from many genres of popular music. Throughout the group's musical pursuits, they have maintained a sound built on melodic instrumentals. Their lyrics, often embellished with spiritual imagery, focus on personal themes and sociopolitical concerns.
Jadi U2 sudah ada sebelum saya lahir, saya mulai
menyukai U2 semenjak SMU dan sekarang berarti U2 sudah berumur 40 tahun dan
Bono sudah berumur 56 tahun! Kalau teman sebelah saya ini lahir di tahun 90an,
berarti memang wajar ya ia menilai selera saya penggemar U2 sebagai “tua”.
Padahal lagu favorite saya semacam With or Without You, One, All I Want is You,
Beautiful Day, dll itu memang sungguh bagus dan beberapa kali dinyanyikan oleh
artis-artis lain lho.
2. Coldplay

Coldplay are a British rock band formed in 1996 by lead vocalist Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland at University College London (UCL).After they formed under the name Pectoralz, Guy Berryman joined the group as a bassist and they changed their name to Starfish.Will Champion joined as a drummer, backing vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, completing the line-up. Manager Phil Harvey is often considered an unofficial fifth member.The band renamed themselves "Coldplay" in 1998,before recording and releasing three EPs: Safety in 1998, Brothers & Sisters as a single in 1999 and The Blue Room in the same year. The Blue Room was their first release on a major label, after signing to Parlophone.
Nah kalau Coldplay ini agak mendingan dan
lebih muda. Umur Coldplay “baru” 20 tahun dan lead singer Chris Martin baru
berumur 39 tahun sekarang. So young with such a BIG achievement, don’t you
think?
3. Maroon 5

Maroon 5 is an American rock band that originated in Los Angeles, California. Before the group was formed the original four members of the 1994 band were known as Kara's Flowers while its members were still in high school and originally consisted of Adam Levine (lead vocals, lead guitar), Jesse Carmichael (rhythm guitar, backing vocals) Mickey Madden (bass guitar) and Ryan Dusick (drums). The band, which self-released an album called We Like Digging?, then signed to Reprise Records and released the album The Fourth World in 1997. After the album garnered a tepid response, the band parted ways with the record label and the members attended college.
Wah Maroon 5 lebih muda lagi daripada
Coldplay, umur Maroon 5 itu baru 18 tahun bahkan kalau dihitung dari mulai Kara’s
Flower berganti nama menjadi Maroon 5, itu berarti Maroon 5 baru berumur 15
tahun. Ibarat usia manusia, masih blooming teenagers. Lead singer Adam Levine
sendiri baru berumur 36 tahun sekarang, he’s still young.
4. Taylor Swift

Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter. Raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 14 to pursue a career in country music. She signed with the independent label Big Machine Records and became the youngest songwriter ever signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house. The release of Swift's self-titled debut album in 2006 marked the start of her career as a country music singer. Her third single, "Our Song", made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Hot Country Songs chart.
Khusus untuk perempuan satu ini memang
beneran masih muda, meski umur Taylor Swift sudah 27 tahun, namun umur music
nya baru 10 tahun. Bahkan saat Taylor Swift konser ke Indonesia tahun 2014,
penontonnya kebanyakan anak-anak SMU dan kuliahan.
Kesimpulannya dari empat musisi yang saya sebutkan, hanya U2
yang well bisa dikategorikan memang sedikit tua. Sementara tiga lainnya masih muda
dengan lagu yang disukai banyak orang sampai sekarang tahun 2016 ini. Jadi,
komentar teman saya yang menyiratkan bahwa selera musik mendefinisikan usia, bisa
dibilang tidak memiliki dasar yang kuat.
Maybe, U2 to them is like The Beatles to me. I knew their
songs and I admire them, but I know they’re from past era when my parents are
young. And no matter how good their song is, they’re just old. And I couldn’t
relate to the Beatles that much. But then again, if a band didn’t survive for
over a decade, their songs are probably wasn’t that good, right? ^__^
